Experience the adventure of a lifetime with a night-to-sunrise hike to the summit of Mount Awu, the largest volcano in the Sangihe chain in North Sulawesi, located on the Ring of Fire. Hike to the peak, 1,320 metres above sea level, to witness Mount Awu’s mesmerizing 4.5 km-wide crater and deep valleys forming passageways for lava mud. This is also a great spot to catch unforgettable views of the sun rising over the extraordinary landscape below you.

Itinerary:
23.00 – Wake-up call, ready for the journey to Mount Awu.
23.30 – Travel by car to the base of the mountain – Pensu, Pananekeng (about 30 minutes).
00.00 – Arrive at the entrance gate and prepare to hike.
04.30 – After hiking for around 4.5 hours, reach a spectacular vantage point overlooking the volcano’s 4.5 km-wide crater.
05.00 – Reach the top of Mount Awu to capture the sunrise.
06.00 – Return to the parking area and travel back to the hotel.
11.00 – Arrive back at the hotel.

Recommendations :
For your comfort, please wear trekking shoes and attire suitable for hiking. Do bring a sweater or jacket as the temperature may reach as low as 5 degrees Celsius. Put on the mask at all times as the strong sulphur smell may cause discomfort.
